President's Report

My name is Price M. Morris, CPPB and I am the newly elected President of PAPPA.  I am looking forward to serving our chapter and I want to extend my best wishes to all of our PAPPA chapter members.

Our newly elected Board of Directors for 2012-2013 also includes First Vice President Peter T. Navarro, CPPO, C.P.M (County of Chester), Second Vice President Guinevere A. Bruner (County of Bucks), Secretary Rene A. Kahl, CPPB (County of Northampton) and Treasurer George M. Nader, Jr., CPPO (County of Lehigh).

On behalf of our chapter, I'd like to offer our thanks and appreciation to our outgoing Board of Directors: President Patrick J. Leavey, CPPB (County of Lehigh), First Vice President Mary Ellen Koval (City of Allentown), Second Vice President Terry Beidelman (County of Northampton) and Secretary Angela Marino, CPPB (City of Allentown).  Under the direction and leadership of President Leavey our chapter launched its new informative, colorful and easy-to-navigate website and we held our first Reverse Vendor Trade Show!

Looking ahead to 2012 and its challenges, I see many opportunities for volunteers eager to lend a hand and support the chapter. This year we are planning on holding a regional conference and possibly another Reverse Vendor Trade Show.  We'll need your help, support, time and energy in order to make these events successful.  Helping only requires a little of your time and it will be greatly appreciated.  Please step forward and help us out.

Our most important long range goal involves NIGP.  In 2014, our PAPPA chapter will be the host chapter for NIGP's 69th Annual Forum and Products Exposition to be held in Philadelphia.  NIGP will be handling the major setup of the event such as the location site, lodging, educational workshops, registration, etc.  However, as the host chapter, PAPPA is responsible for setting up host subcommittees to assist NIGP.  There is going to be a lot of work involved with hosting and I'm asking that all of our chapter members consider contributing a little time by serving on one of the subcommittees.  As host chapter we'll need some volunteers for communications, activities, host relations, local info, on-site volunteers, registration, social events, VIP gifts, presidential dance, hospitality suites, golf tournament, and transportation.  Some members have already stepped forward to chair a committee.  We will need a chair for transportation.  Anyone interested can contact me at (717) 283-0432 or the Event Chair, Maureen McIlvaine at (215) 348-6374.

Our upcoming March Chapter meeting will be held on March 19, 2012 hosted by the County of Bucks.  The location has yet to be determined, so please visit our "Meetings" page on the chapter website later this month for the updated location.
